Petits Fours - 19/29/2011

Sometimes, there is just too much beauty on the Internet and i need to record it somewhere! Not everything is big enough for an entire blog entry, but that certainly doesn't diminish the value. This post is, to me, like a collection of tiny desserts. Different ingredients and different icing colors, but all delicious!

The authentic shirt-dress. So much better than what the stores sell! I totally see AllSaint's, and Westwood, and Complex Geometries in what this fantastic             tutorial creates. Ahhhhh, draping and swathes of fabric and stripes, EVERYTHING IS BEAUTIFUL AND NOTHING HURTS.

It's such a wonderful feeling when you see beauty in something not because it fits the standards of beauty that have been gently shoved down our throats,           but because it somehow aggressively FORCES its beauty into your mind without giving a flying shit about what things are or aren't supposed to be. Each of           the pictures has a different subversive twist to it, whether it can be put into words or not. Here are my favorites, along with my attempts to describe one               of the aspects that makes them so special!

The fold of fabric near her mouth, the curve of her hand, the rough breathing holes, the series of buttons along the sleeve, and the unfastened safety pins at the top of her head
The derision in her expression, the lilt of the cat-eye, the completeness that the beauty mark gives to the photo as a whole (cover it up with your finger and see how it loses its cohesion!)
Her right hand on the machine totally changes her role from victim to controller. Yikes.
The bee's legs splayed across her lips, sealed tight so that there's barely a line between the bottom and top.
The white, black, and white-under-black. Her melancholy eyes.
Her feathery hair and satin skin.
A breathtakingly desolate resting place for old passenger jets. They sit in rows, the planes perfectly aligned with each other. There's this amazing                               juxtaposition between order and chaos - and i'm not even being pretentious here, just look at the photos! The planes look just as pristine as jets on a                       tarmac - that is, until you notice that a turbine has been completely torn apart and a Jenga tower of wooden planks hold up the plane in lieu of the                           amputated landing gear. The writer describes it perfectly: "Inside some planes, you’d hardly know they weren’t simply waiting for the next planeload of                 passengers to take their seats."

*~With the aid of the post office, the Chinese government starts a war on... divorce.
Oh, China. This is definitely one of the government's cuter ideas, but i can't help but think... wouldn't more humane labor laws and higher pay eliminate                 this "work-related and money-related stress" more effectively than delivering a letter to a weary, jaded, possibly-broken-up-and-with-other-people-now              couple?

*~Orange and stringy zombies crawling out of the world's largest pumpkin.
Food art just doesn't get much better than this!

*~Aaaaand finally, a house cat stalking one of the most fearsome predators around.
What astounding courage, role model for our generation, etc.

Alright, that's it for tonight! I've got to go to bed so i can wake up early to buy Halloween costume supplies!

With love,
Sia
